How to Make Flossing Fun for Kids
January 27, 2022 11:46 pmDoes your child put up a fight when it comes to flossing their teeth? We understand that just getting them to brush their teeth can be a feat in and of itself! Here are some tips to help you make flossing fun for your kiddo so you can help them maintain a healthy, happy smile.
- Order Some Flavored Floss
- Try Different Flossing Tools
- Create a Game Around Flossing
- Reward Your Child for Consistent Flossing
- Floss with Your Child
Did you know that there are flavors other than mint when it comes to floss? Try a new kid-friendly flavor that your child might like better. When they get to floss with yummy flavors like grape, cherry, or pink bubblegum, they may eventually look forward to it every day!
Make flossing more enjoyable with kid-friendly flossing tools, such as floss picks in the shape of animals or your child’s favorite animated characters. Floss picks are also easier to use for some children. A water flosser is another gadget that your child might find more exciting than the typical string floss.
Come up with a game involving flossing to keep it interesting. For example, whoever finds the most teeth monsters (food stuck between teeth) wins!
One of the best ways to encourage your child to floss and keep it entertaining is to reward them for consistent flossing. Have them put a sticker on a progress chart every time they floss. If they get a certain number of stickers in a row, they could get a small prize, special outing, or other sugar-free incentive.
Kids often like doing things their parents do. If you floss alongside your child, they may be more willing to floss their teeth. It can end up being a fun daily bonding experience that leaves you both with healthier smiles!
